Leading the way in Cardiovascular Specialties, Hahnemann University Hospital in conjunction with the Cardiovascular Institute of Philadelphia employed AVSG to design and implement a state-of-the-art Telemedical training facility.
Hahnemann’s objective was to enlighten and train other university hospital institutions across the country in the latest cardiovascular procedures. This objective has been met with two high tech audiovisual procedure rooms; one within a current Cardio “Cath” Lab and the other in a brand new training facility. Both rooms are linked fiber optically deploying the latest in high definition videoconferencing equipment.
The Cardio “Cath” Lab utilizes its original radiological equipment in conjunction with high definition videoconferencing to transmit high resolution, x-ray imaging and live video to other facilities across the country. Students and instructors have the ability to interact live and in real time during actual patient procedures.
The system consists of multiple, high resolution video cameras feeding into a high definition videoconferencing system capturing every angle of a procedure, multiple wireless headphone/microphone feeds, high resolution video monitors and an automated, color, touch panel, wireless control system.
The training facility incorporates two 37” high definition LCD displays and a high resolution LCD video projector as the main video display. Feeding each display is a video matrix which allows for multiple simultaneous sources to be displayed from the Cardio “Cath” Lab. Transmission of the multiple video sources is performed via an additional high definition videoconferencing system.
Multiple local PC video, DVD, VCR and Document camera video sources are also utilized for live interactive training with the instructor having the ability to annotate over any live video source. The system is controlled via an 18” color, touch panel, control system tablet.
